Their busy tour schedule found them traveling the mainland US and internationally. Eventually, the band relocated to Las Vegas in the mid-1970s to better accommodate the demands of being an in-demand touring band.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen Aloha Got Soul approached Liz Damon in 2018 about this hard-to-find 45 on Doncey Records, the singer had practically forgotten the song altogether. “Woota”, it seems, was the result of a one-off recording session that went down at Hollywood’s Annex Studios during a US tour in the late 1970s. Even Randy Isaki, the band’s drummer and lead arranger, brushed the song off as less-than-memorable. Shortly after, Marvin invited Checo and his counterparts to join his multi-city tour across Europe. Each vinyl has a song lyric etched into the vinyl’s deadwax (the blank area in between the grooves and the label).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003ePriced attractively, the 7-inch box set is a welcome addition to any collection.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAs DJs with a penchant for spinning vinyl, we’re apt to bring 7-inch records to a gig for their portability (read: less backbreaking) and sound quality (7-inch records bump louder than LPs). But the problem with 7-inch vinyl box sets these days is that few are convenient to play, let alone add into a DJ set. Clumsy clamshell enclosures, excessive packaging, hyper-collectability (to the point where no one wants to open their copy!) — all these things prevent the records from actually being played.
