Compost - Life Is Round

Compost was a fusion band when fusion was new. Mahavishnu, Weather Report during the Miroslav and Alphonso Johnson days, and Return To Forever got extensive play and attention, even on the more progressive rock stations. For some reason Compost didn't. They were a fine band featuring stalwart jazzers like Jack De Johnette, Bob Moses, and Harold Vick. DeJohnette and Moses would switch off on drums and keys. Jack Gregg was an awesome pre-Jaco electric bassist, and Jumma Santos filled things out on percussion. They actually shared bills with bands like Yes, which is how DeJohnette and Bill Bruford supposedly became acquainted.
