Despite making waves in Electronic Music since 1995 over the course of her 18 previous studio albums and countless collaborations (Plaid, Atom™, Daedelus, Kettel, DJ Vadim, Q-Bert + many more), Coppé has never strayed too far away from her love for jazz - a genre of which she has held close to her heart since a child.
With the occasional jazz classic frequently finding themselves covered / warped into something uniquely “Coppé” on previous albums (culminating in 2017’s 'Milk' album, of entirely Electronically reimagined Jazz standards), the pandemic lockdown of 2020/21 gave Coppé the opportunity to explore her love for simpler, acoustic sounds and minimal experimentation.
Partly inspired by 2021’s '蜜 Mitsu' mini-album of solo piano experiments, further encouragement came from guitarist (and big-brother) Hiro, following producer Jakey’s discovery of 15 years’ worth of recordings from various sessions and occasional gigs from around Tokyo. These laid the foundations for what has now become Coppé’s first full album of plugged, live-lounge Jazz standards, called
'(Un-)tweaked'.
This will be Part One of a two-part project, with part two coming later in 2022 in the form of 'Tweaked' - A diverse and thoroughly electronically remixed version of these tracks by a very special roster of guest producers & artists which will be revealed later this summer.
